Before becoming a full-time finance professor, Joey held several finance positions at Walmart Inc., spanning Investor Relations, Global Treasury and Capital Markets, and Sam’s Club Operations Strategy and Finance. His work included communicating financial performance and strategy to the investment community, managing corporate liquidity, executing share repurchases, and evaluating capital investments.
Joey served as an Air Force JAG, where, among other responsibilities, he litigated criminal cases involving drugs, government theft, and sexual assault.

Joey has taught finance full-time since 2018, with teaching and/or research experience across corporate finance, investments, managerial finance, economics, and real estate finance at the undergraduate, graduate, and law-school levels.
